Burns Night this year is on February 25, 2012: 5:30-8:30 PM at JoAnn's Ballroom, the Carriage House Inn, 200 South Seton Avenue in Emmitsburg with its Scottish Dishes and its Scottish toastings and its Scottish blessings, Haggis, Bagpipes and You. Come celebrate with us! It is time to find where those tartans got stored. We will be working hard to make this event irresistible. Our price for this year's event will be $50.00 of which $35.00 can be counted as a donation to EOPCC. There will be a raffle, 50/50 and door prizes. Call Bill O'Toole for more information - phone number is on the flyer. Click here to see invitation for more details.
For Burns Night 2nd generation Scotswoman Libby Briggs is making the shortbread for the evening from the recipe of her late mother, Mardi Perron. Libby and Mardi made the shortbread in almost all of the previous Burns Nights, to the delight of the event’s patrons. This year the haggis is not assigned eating and is being volunteered by Bill O’Toole, not by the restaurant, who described the delicacy as rather under-subscribed. Linda Junker will prepare the hard rum sauce for the traditional Clootie Pudding once again and Cathy Bodin will do the oatcakes. A titled Scottish Lord will preside over the evening this year.
