Bringing Healthcare Close to Home
Thank you for your support!!
Healthcare Close to Home is EOPCC’s capital campaign for community support to raise the $500,000 needed to expand the medical center to include space for outpatient cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, and outpatient psychiatric care.
Cancer Care
Currently, the nearest cancer treatment centers are a 20-40 minute drive away for members of the Emmitsburg community. For those battling this debilitating illness, this is a significant hardship for both the patient and the family and friends who provide transportation to and from doctor’s visits. EOPCC’s new facility will include two oncology exam rooms and a chemotherapy treatment room. Bringing cancer treatment closer to home will help ease the burden for families coping with cancer.
Psychiatric Care
Psychiatric care services are in high demand, with waiting lists at most facilities. EOPCC’s expanded facility will have room for one psychiatrist’s office, making psychiatric treatment more readily available to those struggling with the challenges of mental illness.
Other Services
Making the healthcare experience even more convenient for patients, the new facility will bring a blood draw lab on site so that patients will not have to go to another medical facility for blood tests.
The second floor of EOPCC’s expanded medical facility will include a large meeting/training room that will be used by support groups for various health and mental health issues, such as cancer, diabetes, eating disorders, grief, etc.
In addition, EOPCC is planning for the future with two offices on the second floor of the building that can be used as exam rooms for other specialty services depending on the needs of the community.
